"Hithertoe" is one of my COVID 19 series, showing my brother abiding in his private space, working virtually in his tiny office in his room. His most private space has become the outer professional world. The distinction between the outside and inside has been blurred out, transforming his most intimate and comfortable space into a place of work. My brother is like a stiff statue, expressing his despair from disconnection during the locked down. Through my painting, I wanted to address the isolation that the pandemic brought to all of us and the robotized human connections lacking intimacy and warmth. My brother and all of us are coping with this challenging time in their unique way. Knowing even this difficult time has an end, I send the dove through the window as Noah did during the flood.
