ESTHER DOË KIM

Kim earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts from OCAD University in 2020. Raised in British Columbia, she developed a deep connection to nature that continues to inspire her artistic practice.

Kim has presented her work in solo and group exhibitions and has participated in leading Canadian art fairs, including the Artist Project and the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair (TOAF). Her work has been recognized with several awards, including the Best of Art Fair Award, Best Painting Award, Best of Online Art Fair Award, and The Power Plant Emerging Artist Award.

Kim's work explores tender, fleeting moments through a playful yet deeply emotional visual language. Working primarily with acrylic, oil pastels, and markers, she creates richly textured paintings by layering diverse materials and applying paint directly from the tube, much like icing a cake. Inspired by family, childhood memories, nature, and everyday moments of joy, her work blends intimacy with a gentle sense of surrealism and wonder. Through vibrant colours, whimsical forms, and tactile surfaces, she transforms ordinary scenes into poetic spaces that invite viewers to slow down, reconnect with warmth and imagination, and cherish the beauty found in life's simplest moments.
